Ticowind Newsletter 2022/23

Greetings to all our loyal Ticowinders, We hope in these uncertain times that you and your families are all healthy. The summer has flown by yet again and we hope you have been getting out on the water, especially now that we have new toys that allow us to get out in increasingly less wind.

Firstly and most importantly, we will be operating this coming season, starting Thanksgiving week (U.S.). We had hoped the authorities might reverse their stance on allowing us to set up shop as normal. As of now that has not happened. The new (since March) CR Government has made noises about streamlining the bureaucracy and enabling more tourism in the Arenal area. That has not yet resulted in any meaningful changes. That means we will be present at the lake on the days we have bookings for rentals or classes. We have increased our capacity for transporting gear to and from the lake on a daily basis. We will also be offering the possibility to rent windsurfing gear for 4 days or more and for you to keep that gear with you. We have purchased board bags specifically for that and will be offering inflatable roof racks for rent. For those coming with their own gear we will offer the possibility to rent an extra board or sail to make the wind range you can get out on even bigger. Anyone looking for a new sail or board to purchase and use during your stay and then take home we have a large number of brand-new sails and a smaller number of boards that are available for purchase. Contact us and we will give you a quote on an item-by-item basis.

For those of you that have not experienced the foil yet this winter is the ideal opportunity. We can get you started on the foil and help you to transition from standard windsurf/kite to foiling with the same. For anyone with limited wind sport experience that wants to get into foiling the wing is by far the easiest and quickest option.

We are sure you will have all sorts of questions so fire us off an e-mail and we will do our best to set you up with a package that helps you get back and enjoy the unique atmosphere of Lake Arenal.

Since getting back to Germany in May we have become involved, through our neighbour Irina, in a project to help children effected by the war in Ukraine and deliver medical supplies to civilian aid groups. Anyone who is inclined to donate can check out the organisations web page here.
